KS2 had a memorable walk to the war memorial when they were ‘piped’ there by Carolyn May, Clerk to Rockbeare Parish Council. The sound of the bagpipes resonated throughout the village and really evoked the sense of remembrance. We listened as Reverend Lane recalled the meaning behind remembrance and the choice of poppies as a symbol. He read a war poem and then we sang ‘Lord of all hopefulness’. This was followed by the piping of The Last Post and a two-minute silence, ending with the reveille. Here are some of the children’s thoughts.
On Monday 21st March 2016 the licensing of our new incumbent, Reverend Bernard Lane took place at St Mary with St Andrew church in Rockbeare. It was a very special ceremony officiated by the Bishop of Exeter, the Right Reverend Robert Atwell. Bernard was presented to and welcomed by members of our community.
As usual, our fantastic Year 6 children took the lead and read passages from the Bible as part of the service. Miss Pilkingtons' 'singing for fun' choir sang for the congregation.
