About Sports Funding

At Rockbeare Primary School, we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and wellbeing of children. We believe that an innovative, varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all our children.

Since 2015/2016, the Government has made available to all Primary Schools a sum of money to allow them to continue to develop sports provision within school and to help schools increase pupil participation in sporting activity. Schools will have to spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but have the freedom to choose how to do this. 

Our Primary School Sport’s Funding will enable us to continue and extend our provision through employing additional sports coaches, training our staff to deliver in-house quality PE sessions and resourcing or replacing additional equipment. As a result we aim to raise the level of physical activity across all year groups.
