A very warm welcome to Pine Class! We are so excited to begin this special year together.

Reception is such an important and exciting time. It is a year full of firsts, where confidence grows, friendships are formed and children begin to discover just how wonderful learning can be. In Pine Class, we want every child to feel happy, safe and valued, and to know that they belong.

Our classroom is a place where curiosity, creativity and a love of learning are encouraged to grow. Just like the branches of our Pine tree reaching towards the sky, we encourage our children to Dream Big and Fly High, knowing that with God’s help, nothing is impossible.

Throughout the year, our children will learn what it means to be Creative Thinkers, Active Learners, Respectful Citizens and Explorers. Most importantly, we want them to develop the confidence to have a go, make mistakes, ask questions, share their ideas and be proud of everything they achieve.

Much of our learning in Reception happens through play, exploration and discovery. Our days are filled with stories, Drawing Club, phonics, maths, creativity, imaginative play and plenty of opportunities to explore the outdoors. We follow the children's interests wherever we can and love seeing the wonderful ideas and conversations that develop through their play.

I am Mrs Lewis, your child's class teacher, and I feel incredibly lucky to be part of their first year at Rockbeare. I am supported by the wonderful Mrs Cara, who is with us on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and Mrs Balcer, who supports learning on a Tuesday.

Together, we work hard to make Pine Class a warm, nurturing and exciting place where every child is known, celebrated and encouraged to shine. We also really value the relationship we build with our families. You know your child best, and working together is such an important part of making their Reception year a happy and successful one.

We cannot wait to see where our adventures take us this year. There will be lots to learn, plenty of memories to make and, undoubtedly, lots of fun along the way!
